Family Formation
The decision as to whether to place your child for adoption or to parent your child yourself is probably the largest decision of your life. We understand the significance of this decision and will not pressure you in any way. What we will do is to discuss the realities of your situation as it applies to adoption, at no cost to you, so that you have accurate, up-to-date information on which to base your decision.
This initial complimentary telephone conference is also designed to give us a chance to get to know each other. If you would like us to represent you and we believe we can do so effectively, then we will supply the following services:
If you have not yet decided on a specific family, we can assist you in finding the "right" Adoptive Parents for your child. We will begin collecting profiles from prospective Adopting Parents, on your behalf, based on your needs and desires. Our resources are excellent; we have networks with about 300 other adoption attorneys. We generally work by overnight mail so you will have resources and information almost instantly.
While this is happening, we will send you NONBINDING paperwork for you to complete and return to our office, along with your pregnancy verification. This will allow us to verify your legal situation and screen out families where there is not a mutual meeting of the minds on the important issues like amount of post placement contact or ethnic background.
We will be forwarding you portfolios of appropriate families for your selection. Once you have selected possible Adopting Parents, we will arrange a private telephone call between you and the prospective Adopting Parents. Assuming the telephone call goes well, (unless you request otherwise), we will arrange your personal meeting with the Adopting Parents. If for whatever reason these people are not right, we will assist you in connecting with other choices of Adopting Parents. Then, our goal will be to process this adoption so that it is legally safe and in the manner you desire.
